Well, it’s here. Labor Day weekend. The unofficial end to summer. And while I’m sad to see it go, it feels like a fresh start for a new school year and my favorite season. This summer was unlike any other, but there were still so many moments of sheer happiness. I feel like it’s more important than ever to soak up those moments of normalcy because you can get lost in all the uncertainties surrounding us. It’s really been a time to slow down and let go of whatever you thought you had control over, easier said than done, believe me, I know. But if we can focus on what is really important; family, friends, health, we can fill ourselves up with gratitude and let the rest figure itself out.
We were fortunate enough to spend a piece of summer in one of our favorite places with some of our favorite people. Hilton Head is one of those places that epitomizes summer. And getting to spend time there with family makes it even more special. My sister and her family joined us there this year and I was able to have a relaxing vacation, while still being able to capture some wonderful families. I always love being able to photograph families, but there is something about a vacation photo session! Everyone’s a bit more relaxed, a bit less stressed and a bit more appreciative of their family. I think that’s truer than ever this year. And what better way to say goodbye to summer than to give it a proper farewell with some great family memories caputred in Hilton Head.
That last one is very 2020 style!
For me, one of the highlights was getting to photograph one of my favorite people. My beautiful, just turned 14 year old daughter, Brenna. 14 you guys! Where does the time go? She’s a little mini me and I could not love it more! She is kind hearted, a gift giver (which reminds me so much of my mother), loves baking and has a great sense of humor. Oh, and she loves dogs! Loves them so much that she insists on having a king size bed when she’s older so all her dogs can sleep with her. I love this girl so much and am so proud to be her mom.
So farewell summer, until next year Hilton Head!
