Summer in the Augusta, Ga area always seems to fly by, and finding ways to keep kids entertained between camps, activities, and long, hot days can sometimes feel overwhelming. As a mom, I always found it such a special time to spend with my kids. But finding new and exciting activities can be challenging without new ideas to keep them engaged and enjoying the summer. Luckily, there are so many fun and affordable things to do locally that make summer feel memorable without needing a huge vacation or complicated plans.

Indoor Activities

One of the easiest summer traditions to add to your schedule is discounted movie days at Regal Augusta Exchange. Those extra hot Georgia afternoons are the perfect excuse to cool off inside with popcorn and a kid-friendly movie for just a few dollars. It is an easy way to break up the week and gives everyone something fun to look forward to during the summer months.

For days when it is just too hot outside, or the weather will not cooperate, indoor play spaces are such a lifesaver during the summer. Playdates Indoor Playground has quickly become a favorite local spot for parents seeking a safe, fun place for kids to play, climb, and burn off energy indoors. It is perfect for younger kids and gives parents a chance to slow down for a bit while the kids stay entertained.

Another fun indoor option during the hotter summer days is Sky Zone, a trampoline park. Between trampolines, obstacle courses, climbing areas, and foam pits, it is one of the easiest ways for kids to burn energy while staying out of the heat for a few hours. It is especially great for rainy afternoons or those days when everyone just needs to get out of the house.

Outdoor Activities

If your kids need to burn off energy, a day trip to Splash in the Boro is always worth it. Between the water slides, splash areas, and lazy river, there is something for all ages to enjoy. It is the kind of place where kids stay entertained for hours, making it a perfect summer activity when you want a full day of fun close to home.

When you want something simple and outdoors, parks with splash fountains are always a good idea during the summer months. Brookfield Park is a favorite for many local families because kids can run around the playground and cool off in the splash fountain at the same time. It is one of those easy summer outings that does not require much planning but still turns into a fun afternoon.

Yummy Treats

Summer also would not feel complete without stopping for something sweet. Pelican’s SnoBalls is always a favorite this time of year, with endless flavor combinations and colorful treats that kids get excited about every single time. Whether it is after a day outside or just a spontaneous afternoon stop, it instantly feels like summer.

Local bakeries are another fun way to make ordinary days feel a little more special. Sheila’s Baking Co. is one of those cozy local spots that is perfect for picking out cupcakes, cookies, or pastries together. Sometimes the simplest outings end up being the most memorable parts of summer.

And of course, no Augusta summer list would be complete without ice cream from Pink Dipper. From creative flavors to the fun atmosphere, it is one of the best local spots to cool off during the warmer months. A quick ice cream run after a busy day of camps or summer activities always feels like the perfect way to slow down and enjoy the season a little longer.

One of the best things about summer with kids is that it does not have to be extravagant to be meaningful. Some of the best memories come from simple outings, trying local spots, and spending intentional time together. Augusta has so many family-friendly places that make it easy and fun to create those summer moments.
