Ok, I admit it. I have a sweet tooth and I am not ashamed of my need to indulge every once in a while in the finer things in life, but that “every once in a while” portion of my statement has gotten harder and harder since I met Dana from Dolce Delights.
Dana Turner has been cooking for ages. As soon as she could manage to stand on a stool, she would join her mother and grandmother as a baker’s helper. Dana comes from a close family and they ALWAYS found a reason to get together, so baking comes very naturally to her, since she has been doing it practically all her life.
Thankfully for us, Dana is a total foodie and LOVES trying new recipes (she really gets giddy over trying new recipes or reinventing old ones), while also keeping her family favorites in rotation. Those family favorites have a special place in her heart, because they were her grandmother’s and are decades old, including Red Velvet, Italian Cream, Carrot Cake and her grandmother’s famous Drizzle Cake. (Um… anyone else hungry and salivating like me??)
Dana’s has had her official business for the last two years and she really has her cousin to thank her for it, since her cousin asked Dana to make some homemade oatmeal cream pies for her birthday; they spread like wildfire… but the good kind that fills your belly with happiness and love!!! Soon everyone was asking Dana to bake some and she decided to take a risk and start an online business, which has grown exponentially. And thankfully for us, Dolce Delights by Dana is our go-to place for Cake Smash cakes – which are adorable AND so very, very delicious.
I just love partnering with Dana. She is a wonderful Mom (Blake (16) and Riley (6), who also love being in the kitchen and baking!) and a kind person who makes everyone feel special. One of my favorite things she told me was, “Food brings people together and I love being a part of that!”
If you are interested in seeing more of Dana’s work or placing an order, visit her Facebook page or Instagram. If you follow her and are local to North Augusta, SC, there is a chance that she might have leftovers or a canceled orders, which comes in handy when you need to satisfy a sweet tooth craving… unless I get there first!
