Exposure
This week we will be talking about what makes up exposure. There are 2 components of exposure – Aperture and Shutter Speed. ISO is also an important component that helps with exposure. The definition of exposure is the unit of measurement for the total amount of light permitted to reach the electronic sensor during the process of taking a photograph. If you are wanting to learn how to shoot in Manual Mode, you will need to learn how these three work together. Adjusting each one of these allows you to take the perfect portrait. When shooting in manual mode, I personally start with ISO for my surroundings ( outdoor or indoor), then I choose my Aperture ( how many people are in the portrait or what am I photographing) and then I choose the Shutter Speed ( is my subject moving or is it something still ). Below you will find good definitions and examples of what each of the components of exposure is all about. Changing each one in Manual mode allows you to control how the portrait comes out, not the camera choosing for you in Auto Mode. Feel free to try Manual mode and change each setting to see what you get. I have included another Scavenger hunt below that you can use to try out these settings or you can just have fun with your iPhone. ❤️
Just keep on snapping!!! 📷
