There’s nothing quite like the Christmas season. I guess that’s why they call it the most wonderful time of the year! I have been able to share some of my favorite recipes and traditions over the years in my little corner of the internet and this year, I thought, let’s look back at some of my favorites. 🎄
For all of my semi-homemade fans, these are the perfect cookie for you! The ingredients are minimal, you only need Walker Shortbread cookies, mini chocolate chips and festive sprinkles of your choice. This idea came from none of than crazy for crust.
The directions are short and sweet. Use your mini chocolate chips and place them in a glass bowl. With these chips, I used 30 second intervals in the microwave until they were melted through. Just remember to stir in between each 30 second interval.
Once the chocolate is melted you can probably guess what to do next! Dip your shortbread cookies into the chocolate, then dip them into some festive sprinkles. Lay them flat on the parchment paper to cool. And everyone will love them just as much as if you spent hours baking.

Now we’re going back in time with this recipe. My daughter and nephew look so young in these pictures. It’s really true what they say, time flies! Take the time to make the cookies, play the board games, read the 10th story of the evening. I know you’re exhausted but you’ll miss it.
Now that I’ve gone completely off topic, let’s get back to cookies. I was visiting my sister and these two were excited to bake some Christmas cookies. We grabbed our favorite sugar cookie recipe from King Arthur Bakers Companion Cookbook. Sugar cookies are the quintessential Christmas cookie that kids love to bake. I think they love it because they’re involved in each step. From rolling the dough to picking out their favorite shapes to decorating each cookie however they wish, they enjoy it. And boy did these two enjoy that day!

Not to be outdone by Christmas cookies, if you’re hosting this year or just like a festively decorated home (who doesn’t?), this beautiful centerpiece is a great diy. This is beautiful, unique and will last your whole Christmas season.

This particular snow house ornament from Hobby Lobby might not be available anymore as this was a few years ago, but you could use any ornament or small house that are so popular right now. You’ll also need a large glass jar, some frosty fake snow and some mini trees (these are from Target and I believe are still available this year). I placed the ornament in first, then poured the snow around it and added the trees. I found a beautiful wood tray and added some festive ornaments and it sat on my table the whole Christmas season. This is something that can actually stay put all winter as well.
I hope you’ve enjoyed taking a step back in time with me. I’m feeling all the feels as the kids say (they do say that right?) I can’t wait to continue our traditions this year and make new ones! I wish you a beautiful Christmas season spent with those you love! And lots of cookies. ❤️
