In the day-to-day grind of life, I sometimes take a moment to fantasize about sitting on a tropical island, my husband to one side, my kids playing together – laughing and getting along – to the other side. There may or may not be a frosty beverage within reach…, but then the phone rings, my email dings and I am quickly brought back to reality that I am not on vacation, but in “normal life”.
And let me just stop right here and let the record show, that my “normal’ life is F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!! I mean, I work for myself; I set my own schedule and I L-O-V-E what I do, but even my “normal” life can get a little overwhelming and I just want to jump off the merry-go-round for a moment or two and just “get off the grid”, put the covers over my head and take a deep breath.
Don’t you find that when life is calm for a few days and you get away, you end up feeling more refreshed and more creative?? As like everyone, the Cooper household had a crazy school year between school, work, sickness (remember way-back when my poor husband had the chicken pox – oh man!), and more late nights and early mornings just trying to get caught up than I care to remember.
Brett and I decided to take our family and really relax this last week. We hopped on a cruise ship with our three kiddos in tow and ahhhhh…. I turned off my phone and just lived in the moment. IT WAS AMAZING!!! I feel so relaxed and refreshed and I am so thankful that we were able to take a few moments to just be in the moment. The vacation reminded me of a great line from the movie, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around for a while, you could miss it.”
