Oh sweet, sweet summer!! We, at the Cooper Household, are welcoming you with open arms (hopefully more tan open arms shortly). I am not sure what it is about summer, but I feel like a kid again – the freedom of life, the “let’s do this fun thing right now, just because we can” type of freedom makes me feel so happy.
As my children have gotten older, we have always tried to plan trips or things to do over the summer, but we have also tried to live spontaneously, too. This year, we decided to create a “Summer Fun Jar’ – something that has “organized” spontaneity. We decorated a jar cutely and then filled it with great summer ideas, including, “Watch a Movie & Have Popcorn, Go Swimming, Go Bowling”. You could even add things such as, “Slumber party in Mom and Dad’s bedroom, Make Cookies, Make Dinner for a Neighborhood Family, Ice Cream Shop Stop”. I am more excited for this jar than my kids, I think. Each week we get to pick one item from the jar and then we do it; whatever it is, at that moment. It is go time. You can make these items age appropriate for your little ones, but what a fun way to remember the summer of 2017.
