Valentine’s Day is tomorrow!!❤️ And while we don’t go all out, celebrating love seems very appropriate! So, for Sunday, I’ve got a few fun things you can whip up for or with your family just to brighten the day! First up is these adorable strawberry heart hand pies. They’re so tastey and the best part about them is that they can be made for a breakfast treat or as a dessert!

Ingredients

For Filling

2 cups strawberries finely chopped
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 Tbsp cornstarch
1/2 tsp salt

For Crust

2 packs refrigerated pie crust dough 15 oz.
1 egg
2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tsp water
1 Tbsp sugar for sprinkling

Now that we have all our ingredients, let’s get these hearts made! First, you’re going to want to preheat your oven to 350 degree farenheit.

Next you’ll need to cut up your strawberries very finely.

Then, put all the ingredients together in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat for 10-12 minutes while stirring. Once the filling is bubbly and thickened, remove from heat and let cool. Grab two baking sheets and line them with parchment paper.

On a floured surface, roll out the pie dough to 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. Using a heart shaped cookie cutter, cut out 16 heart shapes.

Place 8 hearts on each lined baking sheet. Spoon a large tablespoon of filling on the center of each heart on the baking on sheets.

On the remaining heart shapes (the tops to these delicious hand pies), use a knife and cut a small “x” in the center for ventillation when they’re baking. Place these on top of every heart on the baking sheets to make a sandwich. Press down the edges to seal. You’ll need to refrigerate the hand pies for 20 minutes. While they’re in the fridge, mix together the egg with a teaspoon of water to create an egg wash. Take the pies from the refrigerator and use a fork to crimp the edges of each pie. Lightly brush the top of each pie with the egg wash and sprinkle with sugar. Bake the pies for 25-30 minutes until they are puffed up and golden. Let them cool slightly and then enjoy! If your family is anything like mine, these won’t last long!

You didn’t think I’d let a holiday slip away without creating a charcuterie board right? Did you? I thought you knew me better than that. (insert wink here) This one is probably one of the easiest ones yet, it’s all about the color. Anything red, pink or white, throw it in! This is perfect for an all day snack board and if you have a heart dish, you get bonus points.

For this sweet Valentine’s Tray, you all know my love of Dove chocolates so they’re included. They’re packaged so beautifully, especially for Valentine’s Day, and the quotes on the inside are a bonus! I added some white chocolate covered pretzels, strawberries, raspberries, m&m’s and the cutest pink goldfish crackers! This tray is also a snack that will not last long in my house!❤️

These are just a few easy ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day, whether you want to add this to an extravagent celebration or simply treat your family to some extra love, these do the trick! Celebrating love should be an everyday thing but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with putting in a little extra effort for Valentine’s Day. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and a happy Valentine’s Day!❤️
