Welcome to my all natural light studio tour! It’s been a long journey to get here, but I am so thrilled with this studio, the light it provides, the space is comfortable without being too big and all my props, from headbands to chairs can be stored in a dare I say, The Home Edit style (if you don’t know who I’m talking about, do yourself a favor and head to their site, watch their Netflix series and I’ll just say you are welcome now). My studio has changed locations throughout my career, I touch on it in this blog post. From commercial studio spaces to home studios, I tried to get everything I loved about each space and bring it to this one. And it turned out beautifully! Let me give you a tour!
When my husband and I decided to start looking for land to build our dream home, we decided we would also make a space for my studio. The timing was perfect, as my lease was ending at my commercial space. My new studio is separate from our home, but the commute isn’t bad at all, just a few steps actually! I wanted the space to feel professional and we made sure the details were there, even specific parking for clients right in front of the studio. It was a tough search to get everything we wanted for our home and the studio, but we found a great location for both. Easily accessible for clients, beautiful land and we’re on the most gorgeous lake which creates the perfect backdrop to capture outdoor portraits as well. And don’t ask me which I like better; indoor or outdoor, because depending on the day, my answer changes! ❤️
This room brings me so much joy when it looks like this. I make it a priority to keep things organized because my business (and sanity) depends on it. Everything runs smoothly when I know where all my props are and can easily access them. These bins are full of lights, flowers, maternity dresses, fabric, wreaths, garland, holiday accessories, baskets, blankets and everything you can imagine to create any set design. I’m constantly adding and removing things so it’s always changing.
The airy, light filled space is so spectacular to photograph in. I feel so lucky to be able to have this space. I mean, look at that natural light?! Gorgeous! There are a few perks to a Mary Beth’s Photography session experience that is all about making my clients happy and comfortable. We have a toy area for siblings and little ones to get some of their wiggles out and to be more comfortable in the space. We have a snacks and drinks area so everyone can enjoy themselves. And we have a beautiful space where you’ll come and preview your portraits and learn about all the options we have available, right down to frame colors!
I am so happy to report that all my clients have been so happy with their experience at my studio and I have had such a wonderful time photographing here. My career has continued to grow, I’m continuing to learn and the portraits have been beautiful! My work life balance (if that’s even a real thing) is as good as it’s going to get. I have an “office” that’s separate from my family, but I’m still technically there. I will say, that if I need to really get some work done, I go to the studio. Just the change of scenery makes me go from mom/wife mode to boss business woman mode!
I hope to see you soon, because as pretty as these portraits are, you have to see it to really experience it. I can’t wait to photograph you and your family in my gorgeous natural light studio! Thanks for coming by! ❤️
