There’s just something about fall that makes us want to slow down a little.
Cooler evenings, golden sunsets, pumpkin patches, and cozy weekends make this one of our favorite seasons to spend time together. If you’re looking for fall family activities in Augusta, GA, you don’t have to plan something elaborate to make the season memorable.
From visiting a local pumpkin patch and enjoying fall events around the CSRA to creating simple traditions at home, there are so many ways to make this time of year special with your family.
Here are 10 simple ideas to add to your fall bucket list.

1. Spend an Afternoon at a Pumpkin Patch
One of our favorite fall family activities near Augusta, GA, is spending an afternoon at a pumpkin patch.
Grab the kids, enjoy the cooler weather, and make a day out of it with pumpkins, hayrides, animals, corn mazes, and all the little things that make fall feel like fall.
Sara’s Farm Adventure in Trenton, SC, is a great option for families in the CSRA. Their 2026 Pumpkin Fest runs September 17 through November 8 and includes pumpkin picking, wagon rides, animals, PumpkinTown, and a corn maze.
It’s the kind of outing where you can easily spend an entire afternoon together.
2. Start a Family Fall Tradition
Every family needs a few traditions that are just theirs.
Maybe it’s making homemade apple cider every October. Maybe everyone gets to pick a pumpkin, or you have a special dinner on the first cool weekend of the season.
It doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. Choose something your family can look forward to doing together every year.
Those little traditions can become some of our favorite memories.

3. Experience Jack O’Lantern Lane
Looking for something fun to do after the sun goes down?
Add Jack O’Lantern Lane at Sara’s Farm Adventure to your fall bucket list. The nighttime experience features hand-carved pumpkins and glowing displays that make for a completely different kind of fall outing.
The 2026 season runs September 17 through November 8, making it a fun way to turn an ordinary fall evening into something a little more memorable.
4. Enjoy a Local Fall Event
Fall events in the CSRA are another great way for families to spend time together.
North Augusta’s Jack-O-Lantern Jubilee is happening October 23 and 24, 2026, making it a fun local tradition to add to your October calendar.
Whether your family loves festivals, Halloween activities, live entertainment, or simply getting out of the house together, check local event calendars throughout the season. Something is always happening around Augusta, North Augusta, and the surrounding CSRA.

5. Have a Cozy Fall Movie Night
Not every fall activity needs to involve leaving the house.
Pick a favorite family movie, make some popcorn, grab your coziest blankets, and pile everyone onto the couch.
Let the kids build a blanket fort. Make hot chocolate. Turn off the lights and make an entire evening out of it.
Sometimes the simplest nights at home end up being the ones everyone remembers.
6. Bake Something Together
Fall is the perfect excuse to spend a little extra time in the kitchen.
Make apple crisp, pumpkin bread, cinnamon rolls, or Halloween cookies. Let the kids help mix, decorate, and, of course, sneak a taste along the way.
Don’t worry about making it perfect. A little flour on the counter and frosting on everyone’s fingers is part of the fun.
You could even choose one recipe to make every fall and turn it into another family tradition.

7. Spend an Afternoon Outside
One of the best things about fall in Augusta is finally enjoying more comfortable temperatures outside.
Go for a walk, visit a local park, have a family picnic, or let the kids play in the backyard until the sun goes down.
You don’t need a big activity planned. Sometimes simply being outside together is enough.
Put the phones away for an hour, let the kids run around and enjoy the season while it’s here.
8. Have a Family Pumpkin Carving Night
Pick out everyone’s pumpkins and make a night of carving them together.
Put on some music, spread out the newspaper, and let everyone choose their own design. Whether you’re creating elaborate masterpieces or the simplest jack-o’-lanterns, the fun is in doing it together.
And don’t forget to save a picture of everyone’s pumpkins each year.
It can be so much fun to look back and see how the kids’ ideas, personalities, and carving skills change from one fall to the next.
9. Take the Long Way Home
Sometimes making memories doesn’t require a destination.
Take the scenic route home. Grab a warm drink. Play your favorite songs and enjoy the cooler weather.
Look for changing leaves, fall decorations, and signs that the season is finally here.
Let the drive take a little longer than usual.
We spend so much of our lives rushing from one place to the next. Fall is a pretty good excuse to slow down.
10. Make Time for the Little Moments
This might be the most important one.
The pumpkin-covered hands.
The messy kitchen.
The kids running through the yard.
The laughter around the dinner table.
The sleepy car rides home after a long day.
These are the moments that make up childhood.

So this fall, don’t worry about making every weekend Pinterest-perfect. You don’t need a packed calendar or an elaborate family outing to make the season meaningful.
Pick a few things your fall family activities everyone loves. Make time to be together. Enjoy the little moments.
Because years from now, those simple fall days may just be the memories you’re happiest you made.
And if you happen to capture a few of those moments along the way, even better. After all, childhood doesn’t stay little forever. To capture these memories that will last a lifetime, reach out here. I hope to hear from you❤️
