Now that you have your portraits printed. If you haven’t, check out this blog post for all the best places to print! It’s time to display them in your home. It can be overwhelming, I know. Just a quick Pinterest search can leave even the most decisive people with their head spinning. So, I’ve done the research for you and am happy to report back. Gallery walls are where it’s at! They’re customizable, versatile, personal and are able to compliment any home decor style.

1. Mix all family art together. Family portraits, kids artwork, personal notes, even framed items (think baby’s coming home outfit, a high school jersey, grandpa’s favorite handkerchief). Above, the mix matched frames from this featured home in One Kings Lane and that I just threw these on the wall look is just cool. It tells a story, captures attention and is just beautiful. Below, the staircase is filled with family portraits, new and old, combined with kids artwork.

2. Grid Gallery. These are some of my favorites. I think because of the clean lines and way they just elevate any space. For this, you’ll definitely need a level, measuring tape and my pro tip, cut out pieces of cardboard, newspapers, whatever you have the size of the frames that you’ll be using. Tape these up on the wall you’re going to be using and you’ll be able to really envision how the frames will look, how many frames fit comfortably in the space and how much space you want between the frames.

I love this grid gallery. The look of black and white portraits with these gold frames. It’s just a beautiful, eye catching space.

What a great space for a grid gallery. The wall is large and has room for all your favorite portraits. And I love the addition of the lights on top!

3. Oversize Family Portraits. Do you have an absolute favorite family portrait? You know the one. You envisioned it and it came out even better than you imagined! Get that one printed large and make it stand out! Whether you want all your guests to see it in your living room or you’d like to keep it just for yourself in your master bedroom, it will always make you smile and warm your heart. Above, this framed portrait sits in the mudroom of the home and was a DIY project. She goes through all the steps to get the look. What a great way to enter your home! And below, this staircase displays oversized family portraits of the travels they’ve taken. I especially love the oversized portraits because you’re able to see every detail.

4. Portrait Ledge. This is very versatile and you can rearrange the portraits any time you feel the urge! I also love that you are able to have overlapping frames. There’s something charming about it.

The placement of this ledge in such a high traffic area as the entryway to the home is so beautiful. You’ll see these portraits after a long day and it’s an instant mood lift!

Similar to a gallery wall, if you have a few portrait ledges, you can fill up a large wall with beautiful memories! This portrait ledge gallery wall was created to showcase family portraits. It fills up the space perfectly and really adds a lot of warmth and charm to the space.

Family portraits shouldn’t live on our computers or on social media, they should be showcased in our home. I know many people get hooked on the perfect decor and style and don’t want to “ruin” that with family portraits hung all over. But the truth is, those portraits make your house a home. They make it personal, fun, loving and cozy. Those portraits will make your family and your guests smile, spark conversation and create even more memories. I hope this gives you some inspiration to get those portraits hung. There’s no wrong way, it’s whatever fits your style. So go for it, I promise you won’t regret it! ❤️
